If you are looking for an award-winning planned community with the best schools in the state of Florida, you are probably looking at Nocatee. Developers broke ground on this community in 2005 and it continues to grow today. Nocatee is currently around 30 square miles of land and 60% of it remains in conservation and preservation. It’s zoned for mixed use (more on that in a moment) and it’s beautiful! You can see it all by using the many walking and bike trails, kayaking its waters, or joining the flotillas of golf carts that roam the community. Nocatee is definitely worth a look – so let’s break it down to see what you can experience by living there.
Homes:
According to the 2023 census, this community had 22,503 people living in it - 7,641 households, containing 6,532 families. Those new and beautiful homes sit all around this coastal community and are anchored by a bustling village center. That means families can live, work, go to school, AND play right at home.
Schools:
Let’s start with this critical fact for your consideration: the great majority of homes available in Nocatee are in St John’s County – the #1 public school district in the state of Florida. The community is served by a number of public and private schools, and these include some award-winning schools like these:
· Freedom Crossing Academy. Niche rated
#1 best public school in the Jacksonville area. This public school has around 2,000 students and in PK-8th grade and, according to state test scores, 83% of students are at least proficient in math and 76% in reading.
· Alice B. Landrum Middle School. Niche rated
#9 middle school in the Jacksonville area. With 1,200 students in grades 6-8, Landrum boasts 86% of students at least proficient in math and 79% in reading.
· And Ponte Vedra High School. Around 1,900 students in grades 9-12. The top-rated high school in St John’s County, with 84% of students at least proficient in math and 81% in reading.
Recreation:
This is Florida, after all, so let’s start with golf. There are both public and private golf courses nearby, so golfers love this community. Between our long seasons and the local golfing community, you will never run out of golfing fun here. Go ahead and buy a golf cart and use it for the golf cart parades!
Water sports? Nocatee’s got ‘em. Between Nocatee’s pools, Swim Club, Splash Pad, Spray Park, river kayaking, and nearby beach access (Mickler’s Landing), there is always water activity for families here.
Hiking, biking, running, and walking. If you can’t’ find a place to do any of these things in Nocatee, then you haven’t picked up a free map of the many trails abounding here. Almost every type of sport is played in Nocatee, and you can either join a team or a club or enjoy beautiful Florida nature on these abounding trails.
Nocatee Community Park includes tennis courts and soccer fields, amongst other amenities, and you can also find everything from ziplines to dog parks here. There is simply ALWAYS something to do in Nocatee.
And it’s not all play…
Nocatee Town Center includes restaurants (wonderful Catullos just opened here, and don’t forget Dick’s Wings, Starbucks, and Mayday Ice Cream), retail stores (everything from Publix to Coastal Wine), businesses (too many to name), and office spaces including healthcare (everything from acupuncturists to veterinarians to podiatrists.)
The Jacksonville airport is an award winner (5th best US airport for service quality by the Airports Council!) and it’s an easy 45-minute interstate commute away.
Nocatee boasts concerts, farmer’s markets, food trucks, and community events. There is truly something for everyone here and you don’t have to leave the neighborhood to find it.
